Telecommunications and Networking is housed in Administrative Technologies, effective December 3, 2012. Information will remain on the OAT site during this transition period. 

Telecommunications and Networking is the campus resource for communication technologies at Illinois State University. We offer services such as wiring, telephones, Internet connectivity, wireless access, remote access, reporting, and so much more.

Illinois State Directory

A new online departmental directory service called "eDirectory" is now available. This service is an online repository of departmental contact information and is a substitute for what historically has been provided through printed campus telephone books. eDirectory provides an alphabetical or hierarchical listing of department and subunit names with related staffing content and can be found on the web at eDirectory.IllinoisState.edu or through My.IllinoisState.edu.

Since eDirectory replaces the printed campus telephone directory, individuals or departments may alter online contact information as often as needed through an online request form found on the web at My.IllinoisState.edu/eDirectory or by following the link on the eDirtectory website. Please note that the content maintained by eDirectory is independent of information maintained within iPeople and PeopleFinder.  [Temporarily, for making changes to the departmental listings, fill out this eDirectory Update Form on-line, save, attach the document in an email, and send it to eDirectory@ilstu.edu (or print the form and send it to Campus Box 3500).]

Mission

The role of Telecommunications and Networking is to provide an effective electronic communications infrastructure and related services that are responsive to the University's mission to teach, learn, and research. Services include:

• wired, wireless, and remote connectivity to the campus network, commodity Internet, and research networks;
• analog, digital, and VoIP-based telephone instruments and services, various voicemail offerings, paging, public address, and access to 2- way radio systems;
• structured wiring to support access to data, voice, and video communication networks including the campus cable TV infrastructure;
• billing services to support the acquisition and billing of various commercial electronic communications services such as Internet, cellular, and long distance as well as managing cost recovery for the campus electronic communications infrastructure;
• IT security to defend this investment from various internal and external security threats.
